Welcome to Traditional Equitation School's Horse Camp. We have planned many fun activities that we hope your child will enjoy!
Camp hours are Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
For the safety of your child, no one under the age of 16 is allowed in the stable area without adult supervision. Please do not bring your child any earlier than 8:30 a.m. or pick them up later than 4:00 p.m. unless you have made prior arrangements. If you child will be arriving later than 9:00 a.m., please call our office, so they can inform the Camp Director.
When bringing or picking up your child, please sign him or her in and out on our Daily Attendance Record in the school office. If you need to pick your child up early, or if someone other than yourself is picking up your child, please notify the Camp Director.
Upon registration, you received a checklist of items your child should bring. Please make sure all items are clearly marked with your child's name. All items should be kept together in a knapsack or other appropriate carrier. Lunches should be packed in either a small ice chest or lunchbox. Please don't send any items in glass containers. T.E.S. has no provisions for items that need to be refrigerated.
We provide a nutritious snack and beverages both at mid-morning and mid-afternoon or if preferred your child may bring a snack from home. Please do not allow your child to bring gum or candies.
A soda machine is located in front of the school office. Drinks may be purchased at snack time and lunch time. The sodas are $1.50 each. Please bring exact change because our office does not always have change. Ice water is available throughout the day.
If your child is required to take any type of medication or has any medical problem we should be aware of, please inform the Camp Director.
If we experience a heat wave, we ask you to please impress on your child the importance of drinking lots of water. If at any time while at camp your child begins to feel faint, dizzy, or have the beginnings of a headache, please have them inform the Camp Director immediately as heat stroke is always a possibility. If the afternoon heat is very intense, the Camp Director may, at his/her discretion, substitute the afternoon riding activity with another fun project.
If we experience any rain during you child's camp session, activities will go on as scheduled, with the exception that riding may be cancelled if the footing in the arena is not safe for riding. Another fun activity will be substituted. If you choose to keep your child home due to either heat or rain, no refunds or make-ups will be issued.
A typical outline of a day at camp will be as follows:
- 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. -- Daily meetings: Announcements of daily and upcoming activities and discussion of previous activities. Assigment of horses and ride times, etc. (Camp kids are expected to learn to tack up and groom their assigned horses.)
